After something like a quarter of a century in gestation, Dragonflies of the Sheffield Area has finally been published as Sorby Record Special Series No.17 (2020). The wait has been worthwhile. Much new information and many records have been assimilated in recent years as the popularity of this group continues to increase. The authors are Alistair McLean, Paul Richards and Derek Whiteley. The book runs to 74 pages with each of 25 species having a two page spread of text, photograph, local map of records and flight period. A further five possible future colonisers have a shorter account.
To avoid laying down a large capital sum, and holding large sales stocks for decades, we have tried a new venture. The book is available in full colour hard copy as print to order from Amazon. This has allowed us the luxury of full colour throughout.
