Membership Categories
Membership is available to all those who have an interest in Natural History. There are four categories:
| Individual Membership | Individual members receive all the benefits of membership, including twelve issues of the monthly newsletter and one copy of the Sorby Record. | £15.00 UK |
| Household Membership | Available for members living at one address, who receive all the benefits of Individual membership (one copy of the relevant publications and one vote per membership). | £15.00 UK |
| Student Membership | Available to students aged 26 or over. Student members receive most of the benefits of Individual membership (bar voting rights). | £8.00 UK |
| Free Membership | Available to young people aged 18 to 25. Free members receive most of the benefits of Individual membership (bar voting rights). The terms and conditions of Free Membership can be found at www.sorby.org.uk/about-us/membership/free/. | FREE |
Membership is due for renewal on 1st January each year, except for new members joining after 1st September who will get up to 16 months membership for the price of 12!
Benefits
As a member you can look forward to:
- an annual programme of 100+ meetings, including workshops, field meetings, recording meetings, lectures, members’ slide nights, specialist group meetings and a symposium;
- a monthly newsletter of around 16 pages packed with news, reports, maps, reviews etc;
- an annual journal of 50 – 100 pages, known as The Sorby Record.
Newsletter
Due to rising postal costs, all new members now receive our monthly newsletter via an email link. The newsletter can be downloaded and saved as a PDF.
Applying for membership
To join the Sorby Natural History Society, you can either fill-in our on-line application form or print-out a paper form, fill it in and send it to us by post at the address below. Your subscription can be paid by bank transfer, standing order or cheque (made payable to The Sorby Natural History Society, please). Please email for information about paying your subscription by bank transfer or standing order.
Renewing your membership
Membership subscriptions are due for renewal on 1st January each year. If you wish to pay by cheque, please print-out a membership renewal form and return it to the treasurer with your payment. If you wish to pay by bank transfer, please use our online renewal form. Please email if you have any queries.
