WEDNESDAY, 14 NOVEMBER.  “THE FLORA OF DERBYSHIRE: PUTTING THE COUNTY’S PLANTS ON THE MAP”, an illustrated talk by Nick Moyes.

At 7.15pm, Floor F Room 41, University of Sheffield Hicks Building, Hounsfield Road, S10 2TQ

In 2015 Nick Moyes and Alan Willmot co-authored and published a new county flora for Derbyshire, the first for 46 years.  This 458 page work has been enthusiastically received and praised in the botanical world, and Nick will describe his main role in the project, which centred around receiving records from field botanists, inputting data, and producing detailed distribution maps, as well as constantly checking for errors and omissions.  Nick will also bring along copies of the Flora for sale at the pre-publication price of £25, a considerable saving over bookshop or internet prices. This talk should be of great interest to Sorby members who have botanised in the Peak District or anywhere else in Derbyshire.

This meeting is open to non-members.
