At last, the book is finally complete and on sale! I started writing it in 1987, ready for the 1988 season, but somehow it was delayed for another decade, and a good thing too. So much information has come to light in recent years as more people have taken an interest in these species. The maps are up-to-date at the time of printing. Literally an hour before the book went off, Paul Smith came in with a baby Slow-worm (sadly dead) from Tinsley Park Wood, and the last dot was added neatly by hand. Of course, it will be out-of-date as soon as it's printed - these things always are - but the book is packed with information, maps, statistics and data which I hope you will all find interesting. As if to prove my point, I found a Slow-worm and a new square for Viviparous Lizard a few days after visiting the printers.
