24. Brown or Common Rat Rattus norvegicus

1970-1997

1980-2000

One of the few species that shows a distinct eastern bias in its distribution. It has been quite well recorded over the past 10 years and the number of records is increasing. There has been no systematic survey of this species. Most records are of road casualties and live sightings. It is possibly under recorded in the Peak District.
