28. Stoat Mustela erminea

Widespread but with a westerly bias, reflecting a greater number of records from the Peak Distnct and adjacent areas. Stoats are less frequent than Weasels in urban areas, but are more common on moorlands. They appear to be relatively thinly distributed in eastern areas but more records and survey work are required to clarify the situation.
