13. Rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus

Another very well recorded mammal. There is an increase in records from the western side of the area, both from the White Peak and the uplands to the north west of Sheffield, although Rabbits are generally absent from very high moorlands. They are sparsely distributed in urban areas and some arable areas to the east. Many 1970s sites need re-surveying.
